Nathaniel Ahabue Inegbedion, Ph.D; B.L

Professor & Notary Public

 

Professor Inegbedion is a Professor of Law in the Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. His area of specialisation is public law with particular emphasis in constitutional law and human rights. He is a former Head of Department of Public Law for several years in both the then Bendel State (now Ambrose Alli) University, Ekpoma and the University of Benin. He is a member of the Senate of the University of Benin which is the foremost academic organ of the University. 

He was, for seven years, the Coordinator of postgraduate programmes of the Faculty of Law, University of Benin. He has served as the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ekpoma Branch (2009-2011) and was a member of the National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association. A Resource Person with the National Institute for Legislative Studies, Abuja, he is an alumnus of the Centre for Human Rights, Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria Republic of South Africa. From 2012 to March 2015, he served as a member of the Council of Legal Education, Abuja. A consummate Legal Practitioner, he is a Notary Public of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He is also a member of the National Association of Law Teachers and African Network of Constitutional Lawyers. Professor Inegbedion has published widely in both local and international journals. Currently, he has over 35 papers published in local, national and international peer-reviewed journals and two books-one on constitutional law and the other on criminal law.  Abstracts of some of the papers can be accessed at www.uniben.edu. He has served as an external examiner and external assessor to several universities and institutes across Nigeria. He is happily married with children.
